Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned quarry exposing freatomagmatic tuffs of tuffaceous cone. This feature originated during Surtsey type of the volcanic eruption in shallow lake. These tuffs are overlain by a basanite lava with irregular columnar jointing. This volcanic section is of the Lower Oligocene age and this type of volcanic activity is unique in the České Středohoří (the Bohemian Central Mountain Belt).
