Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned quarry with outcrops of sandstones and conglomerates. They form irregular bodies in the pelitic Submenilitic Formation. Sandstone layers possesss graded bedding. Sometimes they are calcareous and pass into bioclastic limestones. Some horizons are highly fossiliferous with rich macrofauna. Paleontologically and stratigaphically important site.
