Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned quarry with outcrops of travertines of the Middle Pleistocene age. Massive types were exploited and used as natural stone for decoration purposes. Massive travertine passes into a loose calcareous tufa. The travertine is overlain by decalcified soil of terra fusca type.
