Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Canyon of a Jizera River with a section of the Železný Brod Crystalline Unit. The rocks of Early Paleozoic Železný Brod volcanic complex crop out on both sites od canyon. The grenchist alternates with phylites, keratophyres, all of them were metamorphosed and deformed during the Variscan orogeny. (370-325 Ma - Marheine et al. 2002). On the East these rocks are in tectonic contact with Bítouchov metagranite of ediacaran-Eearly Cambrian age (Dörr et al. 2004). The chemistry of metavolcanic rocks is described in Chaloupský et al. 1989 and Patočka 2000).
