Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Rock outcrops of medium to coarse-grained, slightly porphyric gray-beige granite of the Ore Mountains pluton on an area of approximately 20x25 m, in the central part a rocking stone with dimensions of approximately 2 x 3 x 1 m, with a rock bowl with a diameter of approximately 80 cm. The rocking stone was formed by weathering of granite along a system of cracks and subsequent removal of weathered material by rainwater. It is a granite block that only touches its substrate with a small part of the surface. The rock bowl is the result of chemical weathering, especially in the warmer period of the Tertiary (Paleogene). Most likely, it is the closest balanced stone to the town of Loket.
