Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The Číhaná spring system is linked to tectonic faults and CO₂ emanations within a bedrock of paragneiss and amphibolite. The site represents a unique sulfur–iron peat deposit with a high mineral content, formed more than 13,000 years ago. Investigations confirmed a complex system of shallow and deep mineral waters strongly interconnected with surface waters, which ruled out commercial use. The area preserves three spring groups and a valuable natural habitat of the Slavkovský les.
