Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Above the abandoned quarry, there are a number of tin mining pits on the slope. The rocks found at the site include a zone of silicified breccia with a direction of 160 °, a thickness of 10-20 m, subvertically deposited, as well as greisenized granite, granite, crushed quartz veins and breccia. Among the minerals, chalcedony can commonly be found, as well as coatings of secondary minerals of green color - chalcosiderite, blue-colored turquoise and, less commonly, wawelite. With careful collection, smaller grains of cassiterite embedded in greisenized granite can also be found. Above the pit there is an educational board introducing the history of the site and the minerals that are described from here. The abandoned quarry below the pits was used for tin and tungsten mining in the 1980s. During the mining process, old medieval galleries were uncovered here.
