Short characteristics of the site:
A little way behind the remains of the castle, on the rock wall formed by the debris, there are clearly visible grooves up to ten meters long (current marks – grooves). They were created in the younger Paleozoic (Carboniferous, Visé) on the seabed by dragging an object in the underlying unconsolidated clays. Later they were filled with coarser material and subsequently these layers were folded and overturned. The softer clay shales were not preserved and so the wall reveals the lower base of the younger debris and shows the seabed of that time from below. The orientation and shape of the tow grooves indicate the contribution of material from S to N.
