Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Otročín acidic mineral water is one of five springs in the vicinity of Otročín. It has been used as a source of mineral water since at least the 17th century, when it was mentioned by the historian Bohuslav Balbín. The spring has a discharge of approximately 2 litres per minute. The spring is captured in a typical way used in the area of Slavkovský les: a hollowed tree trunk was adapted to convey the water and is dated to 1819. The most recent restoration of the spring and its surroundings was carried out in 2008.
