Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Conglomerates and sandstones of the Hradiště Formation (Silesian Unit, Carpathian Flysch Belts) crop out in the abandoned quarry. Petromictic clast-supported conglomerates are medium to coarse grained. Clasts consists mainly of Stramberg-type limestone and some quartz and dark gray claystone. Clast size ranges between 7 and 20 cm (rarely 60 cm). The individual layers are amalgamated in places. These sediments are the product of turbidite and dense gravity currents in distributary channels of the upper turbidite fan.
