Short characteristics of the site:
An abandoned small quarry at Polouvsí village is the type locality of the Jasenice Formation (Silesian Unit of the Carpathian Flysch Belt). The gray to greenish-gray, dark mottled (bioturbated) claystone contains up to 10 cm thick layers of yellow-gray weathered silty marlstone. Foraminiferal fauna comprise Rhizammina sp., Pseudonodosinella troyeri (Tapp.), Gaudryina oblonga Zasp., Marssonella oxycona (Rss), Gyroidinoides globosus (Hag.) etc. Calcareous nannoplankton with Eiffellithus turriseffeli prove uppermost Albian age.
