Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Neoproterozoic silicites (cherts) outcrop in width of only a few m but had striking total length of 1 km. The body of silicite is elongated in the direction of SE – SW. The rocks are resistent to erosion, very often have bizarre shapes and reach heights of up to 10 m. The rock is made up of grey, white to reddish silicite, with brown limonite spots and coatings. The structure of the rocks is brecciated with black and gray-black silicite relics floating in a brighter silicified matrix. Only rarely in brecciated structure is preserved so-called Stromatolithicstructures. It is supposed that the genesis is close to hydrothermal activity connected with neoproterozoic volcanism. The biogenic activity is not excluded in this paleoenvironment.
