Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Sandpit occassionally with mining activity. Gravelly sands are exploited. They stratigraphically belong to the Kroměříž Beds. Sands are calcareous in places, contain clayballs and concretions. Calcareous cement compacts sometimes sand into conglomerate. Uppermost parts of quarry wall expose clayey marls and multicoloured calcareous sands. Clasts in sandstones are variable, they consist of quartz, quartzites, volcanites, granitoids and gneisses. West Carpatians represent a provenance area for these clasts. The locality is siiuated in the Carpathian Foredeep.
