Geology

Short characteristics of the site: A spring of acidulous mineral water is freely accessible in the public place near the distillery in Jeseník nad Odrou village. The CO2 migrates along deep fault in the Carpathian foreland. With regard to the very low overall mineralization and relatively low contents of Na and Cl the acidulous mineral water originates directly in the valley alluvium, or in cracked Kulm rocks. The water can be classified as acidulous mineral water of the Ca(Mg,Na)-HCO3 type with a total mineralization of around 0.2–0.3 g/l. The content of free CO2 varies between 1.2 and 1.7 g/l. The commercial use of the kyselka spring dates back to 1896. The Jeseník spring received trademark since 2013 and is bottled and distributed on the market by a local company.
