Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The Paterák peat bog is another important raised bog within the Kladská peatland complex, covering 0.93 km2 at an elevation of 820–830 m. It is considered one of the best-preserved and least accessible areas due to dense vegetation. The bog lies in a shallow depression on a watershed between several surrounding hills. In the past, a drainage system was constructed to accelerate water outflow, but recent restoration measures have blocked these channels to retain water and support natural conditions. The southern part of the bog is fed by springs originating at the foot of Na rozcestí hill. These flow through the peatland and drain into Nový pond and further into the Dlouhá stoka.
