Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned quarry exposing sandstone and conglomerate of the Vrchlabí Beds. Some siltstone beds also occur. Sandstones are typical with their reddish and brownish colour and dark patches. Sandstone contain scattered coarser grained clasts. It is supposed that these sediments represent typical Permian fluvial depositional environment. The locality is situated in the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin.
