Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Old mines where iron ores were exploited. The mine was excavated in crystalline limestone of Macocha Beds (Milddle Devonian). There are schist layers within limestones, possibly tectonically placed. Limestones are of variable texture, some of them are brecciated other microsparitic and also biosparitic. Limonite and secondary quartz accumulated in porous layers. Goethite aggregates also occur. Iron ores have been deposited during several stages, some of them also during Cretaceous. The mine bottom is flooded and serve as a groundwater reserve, This locality is situated in the Moravian Karst area.
