Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned, partly flooded quarry, exposing a melaphyre body. It consists of volcanic breccia and scoria-like vesicular lavas with jasper veinlets. The vesicles are filled by secondary chlorite, chalcedony and jasper. One of quarry parts exposes blocks enclosed in contact chert. This siliceous rock occurs also on a base of lava and brecciated lava with silicite forms a natural bridge (rock gate). Nearby relics of mine workings occur, fixed for gemstone exploitation. The structure of volcanites and pyroclastics clearly indicate a freatomagmatic character of volcanic activity. Lower Permian of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin.
