Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Small abandoned quarry exposing the Třenice Sandstone formation, basal Ordovician Barrandien formatio (Tremadoc). It is located close to former mine where sedimentary iron ores were mined. The Třenice Sandstone consists of hard and massive sandstones up to conglomeratic sandstones with prevailing stable clasts. The alternation of coarser and finer grained sedimentary layers can be observed. Graded bedding is common and oblique bedding occurs locally.
