Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
This locality belongs to the Moldanubicum Unit of the Šumava Mts. It consists of metaquartzite outcrops around and within the Velhartice Castle and nearby Borek Hill. This metaquartzite shows a tabular jointing, the rock is fine grained, greyish, and except of prevailing quartz consists of muscovite, potassium feldspar, sillimanite, chloritized biotite, zircon and some monazite.
