Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The abandoned quarry opened on an inselberg slope. Exposed Cretaceous sediments lie on the basement formed of Permian sediments of the Boskovice Graben. The Cretaceous sediments represent erosion relics and form elevations which can be characterized as inselbergs. The Cretaceous sediments belong to the Peruc-Korycany Formation. Their lower part is formed of quartzose sediments passing into claystones with some interlayering coal seams. Overlying Korycany beds consist of two parts, lower one made of quartzose sandstones, upper one of glauconitic sandstones.already of marine origin. Overlying sediments of the Bílá Hora Formation consist of glauconitic sandstones, spongiolites and calcareous sediments called "opuka".
