Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The series of abandoned shelf quarries exposing the Bílá Hora Formation of the Bohemian Cretaceous. Their walls are up to 30 metres high. The very base of the section is represented by calcareous spongiolites and sediments called "opuka". Overliyng sandstones are silicified and contain chert nodules. Mentioned sandstone silicification of the upper part of the Bílá Hora Formation is typical for the whole West Moravian region. The Lower Turonian age of Bílá Hora sandstones is evidenced by some fossils.
