Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
This locality belongs to areas with Pleistocene continental glaciation of the Bohemian Massif. It is represented by an old abandoned sandpit. The sediment section is exposed with sandy gravel on its base. It contains clasts as large as 40 cm across. It is overlain by a gravely sand of diamicton character. Its clasts consist mainly of rocks of the Vrbno Group ,i.e. of metaquartzite, mica schist, phyllite and local quartz. Also clasts derived from a local crystalline rocks are present, such as granitoid, pegmatite, and gneiss. The clasts of a Nordic provenance are rare. Angularity of prevailing clasts evidences their short transport.
