Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The old quarry with an overgrown outcrop. The amphibolite is exposed there mainly with amphibole and plagioklase, together with accessoric turmaline and apatite. Within this main rock body also the skarnoids appear in form of thin layers and lenses. The skarnoids are supposed to be a product of reaction between carbonates and surrounding amphibolites. Garnet, pyroxene and plagioklase represent main rock forming minerals of skarnoids. The composition of our amphibolites is similar to those occuring in the Mid-Ocean ridges.This locality belongs to the Bohemian Moldanubicum Zone.
