Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Rocky rapids in the Ostravice river bed at Baška are built of Lower Cretaceous claystones and teschenite pillow lavas (Silesian Unit). Amygdaloidal teschenites contain typical minerals (analcime, calcite, quartz,zeolites). Rare mollusc fauna of fossil hydrocarbon submarine seeps was recovered from shales. This locality is recommended for protection.
