Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The abandoned quarry open in paraconglomerates and conglomerates is the type locality of the Kojetín Beds (Milotice Formation of the Silesian Unit) defined by Menčík et al. (1983). Today, the quarry is mostly filled with a waste dump. During the quarry activity paraconglomerates with suboval to subangular clasts, 5–20 cm in diameter and large blocks of Štramberk limestone of meter size prevailed here (Menčík et al. 1984). The remnants of the outcrops on the eastern margin of quarry consists of conglomerate with boulders and pebbles of light gray Štramberk-type limestones, gray Těšín-type limestones, sandstones, quartzite, pink rhyolite and intraclasts of gray-brown and black claystones. Based on the foraminiferal microfauna from the paraconglomerate matrix, Hanzlíková (1978) assigned the Kojetín Beds to the Maastrichtian.
