Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The series of small quarries, dumps and spoil heaps. They evidence old quarrying of subarkoses and arkoses, so called "Žehrováci - the Žehrov stones". They belong to the Carboniferous Nýřany Beds of the Kladno Formation. The sandstones are ill-sorted with irregularly disseminated pebbles of quartz, Neoproterozoic silicites and quartzites. The sandstones were deposited in terrestrial environment by braided rivers and periodical high water flows. The sandstones represent well known and often used building and decoration stone. Many old building, also in the Prague castle were constructed from these rocks. The locality belongs to the Permocarboniferous of the Central and West Bohemia.
