Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The old small quarries in the road cut. They expose layers of siltstones and clayey shales. This locality is well known from the paleontological viewpoint. Numerous trilobites, brachiopodes, hyolites, ichnofossils etc. have been found there. The fossil-bearing formation is called the Skryje Formation of the Mid Cambrian age. Described sedimentary section is overlain by terrestrical extrusion of andesites of the Křivoklát-Rokycany Zone. The locality belongs to the Příbram-Jince Basin. As to the paleontologists, they call this locality "Buchava".
