Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The old abandoned small quarry exposing the Lower Badenian sandy limestones up to calcareous sandstones. Some blocks of limestones were quarried and used for a construction of so called "Piece Monument" commemorating the "battle of Slavkov - Austerlitz"). Calcareous sandstones are rich in ichnofossils. Mentioned limestones were deposited in shallow sea, but occassionally transported by gravity flows to deeper realms. The locality belongs to southern parts of the Carpathian Foredeep.
