Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned quarry exposing a lava flow formed of the leucitite basanite. Volcanic body lies on kaolinitically weathered phyllites. Lava flow is as much as 50 m thick and exhibits distinct columnar jointing. Petrologically and volcanologically significant. Remnant of a basaniti volcano with effects of slope deformations and breaking by freezing on its margins.
