Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The series of small outcrops in the city park, just below the cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. Local basic volcanics are intensively metamorphosed and deformed. Na plagioklase, epidote and chlorite represent their main rock forming minerals. Locally, elongated lenses of rhyolite appear as well as several centimetres thick quartz and calcite veins. This locality is of Proterozoic age and belongs to the Brunovistulicum Zone.
