Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Old quarry, overgrown and partly covered by scree. The quarry has been excavated in a biotite granite, medium-grained rock with plagioclase,potassium feldspar and quartz accompanied by magnetite, titanite and zircon. Biotite often forms aggregates as large as 1 mm. Aplite veins transect this granodiorite body and contain some baryte and fluorite crystals.This rock series belongs to the Brunovistulicum Zone of Proterozoic-Palaeozoic age.
