Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The active pit quarry which occurs in the eastern part of the Železné hory plutonic complex. The greyish-bluish amphibole-biotite granodiorite with coarse gerained tonalite represent main rock types. They are accompanied by numerous veins of aplite, aplopegmatite and pegmatite. A pyrite occurrence is interesting. It forms also aggregates called "the pyrite sun". The granitoid is exploited and used for the production of pavement cubes and sometimes larger products. In some parts, thick eluvial horizons can be observed. This locality belongs to the National Geopark ˇ"Železné hory - the Iron Mts.".
