Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The active pit quarry in the northern part of the Železné hory plutonic complex. The amphibole-biotite granodiorite represents a fundamental rock in this area. This granodiorite is associated with numerous veinlets. This quarry was reopened and different types of disintegration and weathering can be observed on the quarry wall. The granodiorite is exploited and used for production of pavement cubes, sometimes for larger building elements. The locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mts".
