Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The abandoned quarry shows erosionally exposed sediments of the Cretaceous Peruc-Korycany Formation (the Cenomanian). They consist of fine- up to medium grained quartzose sandstones with clay admixture. They suffer a disaggregation and that is why they were used mostly as technological materials for cement production ((Limestones are exploited in nearby quarries). This locality is located at the southern margin of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin and belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mountiains" .
