Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality concerns mainly water spring with fountain and nearby forest lakelet. The area is geolomorphologically variable, also due to tectonic activity and presence of faults. Stratigraphically its base is formed by quartzose sandstones and claystones of the Peruc-Korycany Formation. The alternation of sediments with variable porosity allows infiltration and accumulation of ground waters. That is why the hydrological station has been founded there. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mountains".
