Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The abandoned sandpit which exposes sandstones,sand and gravel. In this pit the sequence of sediments of the Peruc-Korycany Formation is exposed. It is formed of alternating layers of quartzose and glauconitic sandstones, gravelly sandstones and even conglomerates. Runded quartz pebbles are as large as 3 cm across. Some platy compacted sediment layers were exploited for building purposes. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hnory - the Iron Mountains".
