Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The abandoned quarry with interesting rocky outcrops of sandstones. According to the detailed description the contact between the Polička Crystalline base and overlying Cretaceous sandstones is exposed. The gneisses are overlain by Cretaceous clayey sandstones and these with blocky and gravely sandstones. The mentioned contact is explained as a transgression of the Cretaceous sea. The Cretaceous quartzose quadersandstones form compact rocks and have been modelled by erosional processes into bodies of castellated rocks. The locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mountains".
