Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The set of outcrops along the brook valley. In some small quarries the Ordovician sandstones were exploited. Together with quartzose sandstones also clayey shales and siltstones occur. All the sediments are slitghly metamorphosed. In some sandstones some Palaeozoic fossils were found, namely trilobites and brachioopods. Although the rocks are slightly metamorphosed it was possible to recognize their Ordovician age. In one of the quarries the Cretaceous sediments lie on the Ordovician ones. They contain pebbles and belong to so called surf facies. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mts.".
