Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
This locality belongs to the Krušná Hora Crystalline. It is formed of metamorphic rocks of a paragneiss and migmatite type. They are overlain by the Upper Cretaceous Mesozoic sediments which are represented by the Turonian marlstones and spongilitic claystones. The existence of important fault line affected an origin of hydrothermal mineral deposits with baryte and fluorite. Between 1976 and 1994 mineral fluorite was exploited and afforded interesting fluorite crystals. The mine is still accessible. The area is also of a hydrogeological interest because it offers important groundwater collectors.
