Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The set of outcrop in the Labe (Elbe) River channel and along the river bank. These outcrops expose bedded sediments of the Prosečná Formation. They are represented by calcareous siltstones, sandy siltstones and claystones of reddish and violet colours. On bedding planes films of mica occur, sediments are bioturbated and with variable sedimentary structures as ripples and load casts. It is supposed that all mentioned sediments deposited in a combined lacustrine and fluvial environments.Stratigraphically this locality belongs to the Lower Permian, regionally to the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin.
