Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Moldanubicum, Central Massif. Nature Reserve. The Roštejn Castle with its neighbouring castle koppies. The castle itself was constructed on a cryoplanation surface. Bedrock consists of a fine grained muscovite-biotite Moldanubian granite. Marginal slopes are covered with block fields. With increasing distance from a summit blocky deposits pass into congelifluctional residues. The granites posses typical block-bedded disintegration. Granite blocks are cut by thin quartz veins which often weather out. Protected beech vegetation.
