Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The rocky outcrops underlying the ruins of the Janštejn Castle. This locality consists of several isolated rock cliffs which form basement rock of the Castle. This locality consists of widely distributed medium grained two-mica granite of the Mrákotím Type. Main rock forming minerals are represented by plagioclase, potassium feldspar, biotite, muscovite and quartz. Among accessories andalusite, apatite, zircon, monazite and ore minerals prevail. This locality belongs to the Central Massif of the Moldanubicum Zone.
