Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Moravosilesian Devonian and Culm. Large abandoned quarry exposing sedimentary sequence of the Hradec-Kyjovice Formation (Upper Viséan). Typical alternation oof greyish greywackes with siltstones and clayey shales. Common flute marks and other sole marks on a bottom of greywacke beds. Plant debris are abundant in greywackes. Examples of an attractive fold- and overthrust tectonics are developed in this quarry. This locality is often attended by experts as example of the Culm sedimentary sequence and tectonic development of the Nízký Jeseník Mts. Many protected animal species.
