Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The dyke of polzenite (modlibovite) forming part of the "Čertova zeď - the Devil´s Wall". The dyke is interrupted by six metres thick tectonic fracture filled by the Cretaceous sediments and hydrothermal calcite and aragonite. The sandstones belong to the Middle Turonian and correspond to the Jizera Formation, partly also the Bílá Hora Formation. Also a sort of diatrems can be observed, features filled with a pyroclastic sediments. The K-Ar dating of the dyke offers wide scale of data - from the Upper Cretaceus to Neogene. The rock modlitbovit contains a great variety of accessories, from apatite up to ore minerals. Traces of former iron exploitation can be observed in this locality.
