Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Massive rocky outcrops of sandstones of the Teplice Formation. Medium grained quartzose sandstones alternate with layers of fine grained ones. Common planar oblique bedding showing paleocurrents in southward direction. Ruins of a Valečov mediaeval castle which was constructed by blocks of underlying Cretaceous sandstones.
