Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Bohemian Massif, freshwater Tertiary, Quaternary. Old abandoned sand pit. 10-15 m thick sequence of clayey and sandy gravel with prevailing quartz and gneiss pebbles up to 30 cm large. Also clayey intraclasts 30 cm large are present. Convolute bedding occurs in finer grained layers. This sequence is possibly of paleofluvial origin and represents deposits of the paleoriver Desná. Strong kaolinization of pebbles and groundmass.
