Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Neproterozoic to E. Cambrian metagranite (540 MA - Dörr eta l. 2004) is exposed in the Jizera gorge close to Bítouchov near Semily. The granite encloses body of amphibole diorite. The primary contacts are strongly disturbed by Variscan deformation dated by Marheine et al. by Ar-Ar method at 345 Ma (Marheine et al. 2002). The locality is registered as a Natural Reserve and belongs to the Geopark Český ráj - the Bohemian Paradise.
