Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Orlice-Sněžník Crystalline. Large abandoned quarry in a sorry state, vegetated and covered by rock waste. Exposure of a stock of uralitized pyroxene-hornblende gabbrodiorite up to gabbro which penetrates through metamorphites of basal parts of the Nové Město Series. This gabbrodiorite is typical by its large plagioclase tabular crystals. Accessoric ilmenite of intramagmatic origin. Attractive mineralogical locality, best outcrop of gabbrodiorite in the Orlické hory Mts.
