Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Moravian Palaeozoc, Devonian and Lower Carboniferous. Three giant limestone quarries, part of a cement factory. 1800 m long section where several limestone and flysch formations are exposed. Bioclastic limestones prevail in carbonate sequence, conglomerates consist of mainly of limestone ppebbles with additional clasts of granitoids, metamorphites and volcanics. Important paleontological locality. Also tectonic phenomena can be observed.
